PENSION EDUCATION

Len Rose - BCNU Executive Councilor (Pensions)

Len Rose has committed to providing pension education for members in their communities upon request.  If you or your colleagues are interested in having him speak at your workplace, please contact the stewards’ office at 604-875-2355 or contact one of your Regional Executive (see contacts on home page) for assistance.  He requests that there be a minimum of 10-12 participants and will provide a presentation from 1.5-3 hrs depending on the group’s needs.

He also will be placing pension articles in each issue of the Update magazine. (If you are not receiving your Update, please go to bcnu.org or call BCNU at 604-433-2268 to ensure that your address is correct.).

Issues he will cover include:

  • Understanding benefits under the municipal pension plan (MPP) and the public service pension plan (PSPP)
  • Understanding your member benefit statement
  • Ensuring rights related to your pension under the Provincial Collective Agreement (PCA) are protected
  • Planning your retirement

Please remember to bring your pension statement.

The booklet "Pensions: What Every BCNU member should know" is available to BCNU members.  Receive yours at one of Len’s workshops or call the stewards’ office.

Also keep an eye out for BCNU flyers advertising pension workshops in the community open to all BCNU Members. These notifications will arrive in the mail-outs to stewards/ward reps/ members and will also be posted on BCNU boards in your workplace.

Check the BCNU website at www.bcnu.org.

The Municipal Pension Plan website at www.pensionsbc.org has a wealth of information and enables you to access information specific to your plan.  You may contact them for one on one assistance to answer any of your questions. They also offer education to plan members.
